05/06/2003

Included in the 2nd Annual Tribeca Film Festival were a series of films whose preservation/restoration was made possible by The Film Foundation. The program featured films selected by the festival and presented from May 6-9th under the “Restored and Rediscovered” banner. This year’s screenings included the newly restored  THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY (1966, d. Sergio Leone), THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA (1954, d. Joseph Mankiewicz), and “Charles Laughton Directs THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER”, a fascinating presentation by UCLA Preservation Officer Robert Gitt, featuring rushes and outtakes from the 1955 film.
